Finally I Visited Nagrota
Surian in 2019
Traveling to new places, especially to
unfrequented ones, poses accommodation
challenges. A few years ago, I had planned a visit
to Nagrota Surian that plays host to the migratory
birds in winter every year. Nagrota is not on
popular tourism map of Himachal Pradesh. That
year, only stay option I found was a forest rest
house. The forest department refused the room
citing annual bird survey requiring rooms for
the officials. Another option was Basunti Retreat,
managed by a foreigner who never replied to my
email for room booking request. I unwillingly
dropped the plan.In 2019, I saw a half page advertisement about
the migratory birds in a national newspaper.
