THE HIGH

POINT

Westmeath have handed out two
trimmings in the All-Ireland Qualifiers
so far but their 1-22 to 0-7 win over
Waterford raised eyebrows, all the more
so when we consider these two shared
a league division as recently as 2017. A
performance that has jumpstarted their
summer.

THE

LOW POINT

Revitalised under Jack Cooney
and still brimming on
the back of a successful
promotion back to Division
2 in the spring, Westmeath
came into this year’s
Leinster Championship
full of beans. Add in their
excellent recent record
against Laois, and that
Leinster quarter-final
defeat to the O’Moore men
in late May looks even more
disappointing.

LEINSTER QUARTER-FINAL:

LAOIS 0-12 WESTMEATH 0-10

QUALIFIER ROUND 1:

WESTMEATH 1-22
WATERFORD 0-7

QUALIFIER ROUND 2:

WESTMEATH 2-13 LIMERICK 1-10
