I
love the Pop Art Movement with its bright, pure colors
accented with bold black outlines and contemporary style.
I adapt photos to turn them into Pop Art portrait quilt wall
hangings. Using unconventional fabric—especially polka
dots—for the face and other elements harkens to the Ben-Day
dots Roy Lichtenstein used in his comic book-inspired work.

Inspired by Comics
Th e Ben-Day dots printing technique was developed in the late 19th century,
and named after Benjamin Day, a printer and illustrator. Using this method,
colored dots are spaced and overlapped to create color and shading in images.
Lichtenstein used this technique in his popular comic book-inspired paintings.
