- Carefully place the fabric on top.
Burnish the back of the fabric
with your hand or the clean
brayer. (fi gure 3)
TIP: If you have a lot of paint on the
printing plate, the paint may seep
through and spread to other parts of the
fabric, beyond the edges of the design. To
prevent this, place a piece of paper towel
on top of the fabric and then press the
fabric with the clean brayer or your hand.
- Pull up a corner to make sure
all the paint is being picked
up and you are happy with the
image before pulling the print
completely. (fi gure 4) Pull the
fabric off of the plate.
TIP: Before pulling the fabric off the
plate, run a pointy object around the
edges to ensure they will be smooth and
evenly covered with paint. (fi g u r e 5)
- To clean the plate between
prints, spray it with water and
gently clean with paper towels.
You can also place a piece of
fabric on the plate and pull a
ghost print. To remove the rest
of the paint, use paper towels or
baby wipes. - Repeat these steps to create more
printed shapes. Experiment
with overlapping the shapes or
changing the direction of the
stencil placement.
