Victoria Eugenia Henao has

penned a gripping tell-all

memoir detailing her life with

the infamous drug king after

marrying him at the age of 15.

Pablo’s story has been told

and retold many times before,

with the most recent being

the hit TV series Narcos. But

this isWKHƂUVWWLPH9LFWRULD

enters the spotlight with her

own tale.

The book is titled Mrs

Escobar: My Life With Pablo,

DQGZDVƂUVWSXEOLVKHGLQ

Spanish in 2018. Victoria says

writing was a cathartic process

and she didn’t shy away from

the tough parts of her life.

“Everything was very hard.

The subject of women is an

absolute humiliation for me.

,WDONRIWKHLQƂGHOLWLHVLQD

chapter because that was my

daily life,” she explains.

“Imagine, me being six-and-

a-half months pregnant, and for

me to see across all newspapers

that he was marrying someone

else. It’s terrible, so I felt this

couldn’t be left out.”

Her goal with sharing the

truth and put rumours to rest.

She says, “I feel a responsibility

to my kids. I don’t want them

or my grandchildren to know

the story of their mother and

grandmother through television

series that are far from reality.

That is why I wanted to be

responsible for my story, in

addition to the pain for Colombia.

For its victims. Because it’s true

that I have a moral responsibility

and respect for them.”
