Room refresh Phoebe completely overhauled
Robbie’s bedroom. Previously wallpapered in a dark
grey pattern to match an upholstered bed, the walls are
now crisp white. The new bedhead design echoes the

“I get sick of things,” says interior designer Robbie
Nicol of her desire to transform her home every
so often. Her worker’s cottage in Sydney has had
many incarnations since she bought it with her late
husband Alasdair back in 1998, but this latest one
- designed in collaboration with Robbie’s interior
architect daughter Phoebe Nicol – is perhaps her
most daring. “I just love the work Phoebe’s been
doing,” Robbie says. “We’ve got different aesthetics,
there’s no doubt about that, so I said ‘Why don’t
