he Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB)
was established in June 2013. With the 32
year management education legacy of Xavier
Institute of Management Bhubaneswar
(XIMB) behind it, XUB has made “Education in
the spirit of Magis” its Mission. This prestigious
Jesuit University has now launched the
School of Government and Public Affairs
(SGPA) in 2019. The School has been created
with a three-fold Vision:


• Building a knowledge hub on Governance, Policy Research
and Analysis, and inspiring Transformative Leadership;


• Creating innovation platforms in Public Sector, Government,
and Social Sector; and


• Developing tomorrow’s Leadership to be the light for the
world.


The Master in Public Policy (MPP) is the flagship offering of
the School. This two-year full-time course will have students
doing Core Courses, Electives, Capstone projects, dissertation and
case studies. Courses on themes of contemporary relevance like

governance, democracy, project management, climate change,
environmental action and research make this program highly
focused. Students will also have the choice of doing advanced
courses at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in

Syracuse University in the USA.
Several specialized Centers covering a wide range including
Human Rights, Governance, Business and Public Policy and Women
Empowerment and Gender Equality are planned in the SGPA.
The School has also planned several short-duration Executive
Development programs for professionals in industry and NGOs,
bureaucrats, academics and journalists. Further details about the

True to its ethos XUB supports young leadership, those who
want to build their leadership and be the leaders of tomorrow that
the country and the global world are looking for, through this School.
Prof. Dr. Fr. Paul Fernandes, S. J., the Vice Chancellor of XUB, says “We
have ambitious plans for the School with eleven specialized centers
and a number of short-term courses also planned for grassroots,
tribal and rural leadership. We intend the School to attract many
academics and practitioners in the public policy area including
elected representatives from Odisha and elsewhere, bureaucrats,
administrators, managers and NGO leaders”.

o offer 4 years Undergraduate Engineering Course on “Computer
Science & Business Systems” from current session
To address the growing need of engineering talent with skills
in digital technology, TCS, in partnership with leading academicians
across India, has designed a curriculum for 4 years undergraduate
program on Computer Science titled “Computer Science and
Business Systems (CSBS)”. This curriculum aims to ensure that the
students graduating from the program not only know the core topics
of Computer Science but also develop an equal appreciation of
humanities, management sciences and human values. The students
are exposed to emerging topics such as Analytics, Machine Learning,
Cloud Computing, Internet of Things etc. to make them industry ready
at the end of four years of study. This curriculum has been approved
by the Executive Committee of AICTE and is available in the AICTE
drop-down menu of nomenclatures for engineering course. TCS has
launched this course in the academic year 2018-19 in partnership with
three engineering colleges across India and plans to scale up to a large
number of premium institutes from the academic year 2019-20.
Today, Chandigarh University,Mohali signed a MOU with TCS to
offers CSBS program to the students in the upcoming batch. The MOU
was signed by Dr RS Bawa, Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University
and Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Global Vice President – Human
Resources, TCS. Also Present at the occasion were Rajit Sikka, Head
of Academic Interface Programme– India North from TCS, SS Seghal,
Executive Director Chandigarh University, HimaniSood, Director –
Corporate Relations with Deans and Senior Faculty Member’sof
the University. As part of the MoU, TCS will support Chandigarh
University by training and developing their faculty, organising guest
lectures by expert practitioners from the industry, andby engaging
in continuous assessment of the students. Additionally, TCS will
also offer internship to select students undergoing this program and
involve them in meaningful projects to provide first-hand exposure to
the real-life business problem.
“TCS has a long history of partnering with academia to create
industry relevant course” said RanjanBandyopadhyay, Global Vice
President, Human Resources, TCS, “though this program, we are
confident to develop bright, committed and ethical Computer Science
graduates to address the future human resource needs of Indian IT
industry in the era of Business 4.0”.
Prof. (Dr.) R S Bawa, Vice Chancellor said this tie up with TCS
will be benefit the students in enhancing their employability skills
by making them capable of using latest computer technology in
developing business management system.
