‘CLASS’ SERVING TROLLEY
by Bernhardt & Vella
We’ve long had the hots for the hostess
trolley and, happily, contemporary
reimaginings of the 1970s classic keep
on rolling out. Comprised of a lightweight
frame and two parallel trays, ‘Class’, by
Milan-based design duo Bernhardt & Vella
for Bontempi, recontextualises the food
trolley for luxury domestic use. The frame
is in painted metal with brass details,
while the trays are covered in leather.
Generous lipped sides prevent transported
dishes and drinks from slipping of
en route to the table, and the trolley
afords easy manoeuvrability. Deinitely
this year’s hostess with the mostest.

‘BACK-WING’ CHAIR
by Patricia Urquiola
Art director at Cassina since 2015,
Patricia Urquiola’s latest creation for
the brand champions solidity and comfort.
Constructed in ash wood, and available
in an oak or black stain, the chair is
characterised by positively chunky legs
and a contrastingly slender seat upholstered
in leather, which appears to be draped,
like a little wing, over the frame – hence
the name ‘Back-Wing’. The ergonomic
backrest features a similarly curved form,
while attention to detail includes no
visible stitching and, instead, delicate
piping neatly deining the edges of the
leather upholstery.

‘IPNO’ LAMP
by Michele De Lucchi
All dinner parties beneit from careful
ambient lighting, and this particularly
proicient suspension lamp is most welcome
at our table. Combining an exquisite loral
form designed by Michele De Lucchi with
typical technical prowess from Italian
lighting specialist Artemide, the ‘Ipno’
lamp is designed to direct soft but
concentrated light downwards and emit
a gentle, difused glow into the wider room.
The suspension version, in simple white
or with a black exterior and gold interior,
is complemented by a wall lamp that can
be installed to direct light upwards or
downwards as desired.

‘NO. ONE’ DINING TABLE
by Aldo Bakker
Lessons in balance and control, the work
of Amsterdam-based Aldo Bakker
includes reined forms that put texture
and materiality to the fore. His usual
sense of reduction is apparent in his
latest creation, the ‘No. One’ dining
table for Karakter. Created in solid oak,
with a smooth, clear lacquered inish,
the elegant design is deined by a single,
slender but super-sturdy foot that
supports the 2.2m tabletop. As well
as this rectangular version, a smaller
circular model is also available.
