Dutch design powerhouse Moooi’s latest
collection is a series of nature-inspired
designs, including owl-shaped lamps by
Marcel Wanders and a ‘Plant’ chandelier
by Kranen/Gille. But perhaps the most
striking is Rotterdam-based sculptor
Joep van Lieshout’s ‘Liberty’ lounger,
an angular design handmade in American
walnut. This was the irst chair the artist
created when he set himself the challenge
of creating one chair per day for a month.
The design process involved no sketches
or measuring equipment, simply physical
interaction with the material. We can’t wait
to see what the rest of the month delivered.

Italian maestro Antonio Citterio has been
designing sofas for B&B Italia for years,
yet shows no signs of running out of ideas.
His latest modular seating system, ‘Atoll’,
includes chaises longues, poufes and this
perfectly symmetrical sofa. Its expansive,slender base – in pewter or black chrome –
emphasises the line between the frame and
the cushions. Whether in fabric or leather,
it’s just what we need for a long lie down.

Brazilian designer Pedro Paulø-Venzon
is known for his slender steel-frame creations.
