DIRECTIONS
- Fold the butcher paper
 diagonally in half from corner
 to corner, unfold, and then
fold it again diagonally in half.
 Unfold. Now fold the paper
edge to edge, unfold, and fold
again, edge to edge, in the
 opposite direction. Align the
 edges carefully. Refold, creating
 a^1 ⁄ 8 triangle. Draw a design of
your choosing on the long fold
 of this^1 ⁄ 8 triangle
(fi gure 1) and cut it out.
 Explore different shapes,
 straight edges, and curves.
Make lots of ‘snowfl akes’ to
 help decide what designs
 you like, cutting more paper
squares as needed. (fi gure 2)
Choose the design you will use
on fabric and refold the paper
or cut out the^1 ⁄ 8 triangle to use
 as a pattern.
 2. Cut a 12" square of fusible
web and fuse it to the back
 of the foreground fabric,
 following the manufacturer’s
 instructions.
 3. Fold the fabric, with the paper
 side showing, the same way
you folded the paper and lined
up the edges in Step 1. Use the
(^1) ⁄ 8 triangle pattern and trace it
onto the paper backing of the
fusible web. Use binder clips to
keep the layers from slipping;
you can move the clips around
as you cut to help keep the
layers aligned. Cut precisely
and carefully through all
layers. (fi gure 3)
- Unfold the fabric and peel
 off the paper backing. Center
 the design to the background,
 leaving a ½ " border on all
 sides. Fuse.
