CENTRE AND JACKSON’S ART SUPPLIES
As one of the largest dedicated art materials
retailers in the world, Jackson’soffers a vast
range of fine art products. From a handful of
products shipped out of a gallery basement,
they now handle over 400,000 parcels a year,
shipping to tens of thousands of artists in
150 countries around the globe. Despite this
growth, their ethos remains the same. They
hunt down the finest products, offer them at
great prices, and deliver an exceptional
quality of service.
‘Last year we were both
delighted and proud to be
finalists. We knew the standard
was extremely high from looking
at the entries of previous
winners. Although we didn’t
expect to win, we were
determined to give it a good try.
This is an incredibly prestigious
award for the society and we feel
really proud to have succeeded.
‘Societies in general are having
a hard time because of
competing demands and
interests, but winning this prize
is a real boost to our continuing
efforts to promote and expand
our society.’
Dianne Gilmour, Croydon Art
Society, winner 2018
‘Without art clubs, many serious
amateurs would be working in
isolation, without support,
encouragement and constructive
criticism. They play an essential
part of the artist community and
over the years their product ideas
and suggestions have been
invaluable to us at Jackson’s.
‘We are huge fans!’
Gary Thompson, Jackson’s Art
Supplies, sponsor
‘When we decided to enter the
Leisure Painterand The Artist
Art Club of the Year competition
it was very much on a ‘wouldn’t
it be a fun thing to do’ basis.
Our light-hearted approach was
reflected in the entry we put
together, being bright and
colourful with far from serious
subject matter, but when we
were selected as a runner-up
by such an illustrious judging
panel everything changed.
‘Like a lot of competition
winners, we had
underestimated the reaction
and positive response that our
achievement would generate.
At our November exhibition a
few months later we constructed
a special area, highlighting
Leisure Painterand displayed
our entries.’
