Society of Equestrian Artists
This year the Society of Equestrian Artists (SEA) celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The society started with a group of like-minded artists wishing to set up a society
to encourage and promote equestrian art and now, 40 years later, has a
flourishing membership throughout the UK and abroad. Its annual exhibition,
Horse in Art, at Sally Mitchell’s gallery in Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, (this year
from 15 to 28 September), is the highlight of the society’s year, showing work by
members as well as non-members selected from open submission. The SEA also
runs workshops each year, including a week-long course on the coast of orth
Devon, where participants can paint horses en plein airagainst the dramatic
coastline and landscape. There are also several one-day and weekend workshops
around the country. These are suitable for all levels and abilities. If you would like
to find out more about how you can become a member, contact the secretary, Debbie Dunbar,
at [email protected] or visit http://www.equestrianartists.co.uk
