Inside a Dutch superyacht powerhouse
At shipyard Heesen in Oss, the Netherlands, a 50m
aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF),
known for its efficiency, with exterior design by
Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. A beneficiary
of the boom in demand for superyachts after the
second oil crisis, Heesen bills itself ‘old school’, and
has a reputation for aluminium expertise. ‘Almost
every discipline is in house,’ says director of sales
Mark Cavendish. ‘We have about 12 yachts in build.
