Now I never witness my father spanking his daughters nor raise his hand to my
mother. Only one daughter (sibling number #5) admits to never have had his rath
upon her, which to me suggest she may have witnessed him spanking one or more
sisters at one time. I never asked for details.
Our dad was more boisterous than action when it came to discipline. Looking at you
was all he needed to do 99.99% of the time. We were good kids, but we didn't want to
push it at any point. Only sibling number #2 would ever do so. I think dad kinda liked
the challenges and shifts that continued between them. After all, I did witness the
dreaded broom swing.
My mother admitted to me several times in her ashbacks, as if it was a badge of
honor, that daddy, as she would call him, never raised his hand against her. I rarely saw
him disagree with her. She seemed to always hold checkmate in discussions. I think he
was an early adapter to the "Happy Wife, Happy Life" mode of matrimonial
relationship
My dad was an outdoorsman, He loved to hunt and sh. He would take my younger
brother and me shing, but he seemed more interested in shooting his pistol at
snakes, turtles, rabbits or any other varment that moved. I went hunting with him
once, but only to watch (very boring).
I would go rabbit hunting with one of my best friends' family. It was a hard decision to
go with them. I never told my dad. I'm not sure how he would have reacted if I would
have admitted to going hunting without him. I'm surer he would have delved straight
for the rearm safety bit to offset any emotion. We both survived.
I also enjoy shing with my same best friend, He would be the only one of my best
friends' I would hunt and sh with. His mom provided a lot of structure for me away
from home. I had other friends' mothers who provided additional structures for me
away from home. My village was huge. Dad wouldn't mind the shing pal thingy, but
hunting was his alone...sorry pops. We both survived.
As I stated earlier, my father had gone legally blind after he retired. Probably a result
of his long term Type II diabetic condition. While he was not totally blind, his vision
was severely impaired. He could not see in detail.
So, listen up...Got one for ya here...I will end this portion of my memoirs with this
astounding recollection.
