Project Pansy Table Runner

DESIGNED BY AMANDA GREGORY

Enjoy a splash of springtime blooms on your dining table,

with a pretty lace-edged runner at the centre

fancies

P

ansies are a firm favourite with
many a gardener, with their
bright colours, velvety petals
and soft leaves. Just in time for the
arrival of the real ones, Amanda has
created an incredibly realistic stitched
version, allowing you to bring the
beauty of these outdoor plants into
your home this season.
In a palette of vivid purples and
soft yellows, these pretty pansies
will grow under your needle using
whole cross stitch and fractionals
with backstitch detail. Amanda has
chosen toning thread shades to create
the colour gradients of the petals,
as well as five shades of green for
the leaves. You can easily extend
the simple double stitch line border

running between the two floral ends
to suit the length of runner that you
want to make. Once your stitching
is complete, a crocheted lace edging
gives an antique feel to the runner,
creating a sweet piece of home
décor that’s sure to make your table
blossom for many years to come!

Floral

I was inspired to create this design after
visiting a garden centre and seeing trays of
lovely mixed-colour pansies. This gave me the
perfect excuse to buy them for my garden as
well as using them as subjects to draw!
