Paper Talk Podcast as another
way of providing support to
our community. The feedback
from our members has been
great and we have been able to
interview some amazing artists
and entrepreneurs with great
experience and knowledge.
Aside from crafting, do
you have any other hobbies
and interests?
I’m incredibly lucky to be doing
something I’m passionate
about – making paper owers
and being an entrepreneur -
because those are on my mind
24/7. When I’m not working,
I’m spending time with my
family, so I really don’t have
much down time at all. When
I can nd a bit of alone time, I
love to read ction and political
commentaries. I do love to
travel. I’ve been to the UK,
France, and Italy a few times,
various cities in the United
States and Canada, and China/
Hong Kong (where I was born).
One of my most memorable trips
was to Iceland with my husband;
the landscape was surreal! I
used to bake a lot and loved
decorating cakes. However,
since getting into paper owers,
I have found that my need for
creativity has been lled to
the brim. So now, I appreciate
beautifully decorated cakes

You will need
● Rose/Salmon & Leaf/Moss
double-sided crêpe paper
● brown or burgundy pastels
● scissors
● ruler
● tacky glue
● hot-glue gun & hot glue
● wire cutters
● safety swabs or toilet paper
● curling tool, such as
a toothpick
● pastel foam applicator
or brush
● 18- or 20-gauge stem wire
● green floral tapeSimply make
1 To make the centre, cut the
stem wires in half. If you are
making a cluster of rosebuds,
leave one stem uncut. To
create a foundation for the
petals to adhere to, cut off
the end of a safety swab
with ¼” (6mm) of the tube
attached. Apply hot glueto a stem wire and slide it
into the safety swab tube.
Repeat for as many buds
as you want. Alternatively,
use one-third of a sheet of
toilet paper, fold over two
or three times to create a
narrow strip, apply glue to it,
then wrap it around the tip
of the stem wire to create
a teardrop shape.
2 To make the petals, cut one
petal using double-sided
crêpe paper in your desired
rosebud colour. Here I used
double-sided water-washed
crêpe paper in Rose/Salmon.
Have the side you want to be
on the outside as you cup the
entire petal except the base.
The rst petal covers the
entire safety-swab tip. Apply
glue to the edges of the petal
and wrap around the safety
swab. Pull down the top
