ROUND TWO

Use two background 3in squares
with two Fabric E/background HSTs
to make a four-patch (Fig L). Repeat to
make eight blocks.

Using the thirty two background
fabric 1in squares, make CSTs on
both ends of sixteen of the black 1in x
3 in rectangles as shown (Fig M). With
RST sew two of the CST units to either
side of the black 1in x 3in rectangles
(Fig N). Make eight.

Arrange one unit from step 29 with
one background 3in square and two
Fabric D/background HSTs as shown and
sew in a four-patch. Repeat to make a mirror
image block (Fig O). Make four regular and
four mirror image blocks.

Arrange the four-patch blocks, referring
to the layout diagrams, and make four
of Round Two.

BORDER TWO CORNERSTONE

Use the sixteen 2in squares of each
of Fabric F and G to make a total of
eight four-patch blocks.

Sew two 3in black/background HSTs
with two four-patch units to make a
larger four-patch block as shown (Fig P).
Make four.

ROUND THREE

Sew one of the 2in x 9in strips of
Fabric G to the same size strips of
Fabric H along the length, press seams open.
Add a 3in square background CST to one
end. Repeat to make four of this unit. Repeat
again to make four mirror image units (Fig Q).

sEWING THE ROUNDS

Using sixteen 2in squares of Fabric G

and eight 2in squares of both Fabrics H

and F, make four-patch blocks. Note, you will

need four regular and four mirror image

four-patch blocks (one of each block for

each Round Three).

Arrange the sewn units with sixteen

black/background 3in HSTs, referring

to the layout diagram on the following page,

and make four of Round Three. Note, the

cornerstones used for Round Three are

simply fussy cut fabric squares and do not

require any assembly.
