sidedownontopoftheSection 1
piece,matchinguprawedgesontheside
whereSections1 and2 willbejoinedand
makingsurethatwhenfoldedbackalong
the seam line, Section 2 will be covered by
thefabricplusat least in all around. Pin
thefabric piece in place.6
Turnthetemplateovertotheprinted
sideandstitchalongthemarkedline
betweenSections1 and2, backstitchingat
thebeginningandtheendoftheseam.
Foldthetemplateawayfromtheseamand
trimto in.Foldthetemplateback,turn
theworktothefabricside, flip Section 2
openand then press.7
Continuesewingyourfabricpiecesin
thiswaytopiecetheremainingsections
of the sunshine FPP template, in numericalorder.Trimalongthedottedseam
allowance line when complete.8
Repeatsteps4–7topieceallfour
copies of the sunshine template.9
Pintogethertwocompletedsections,
carefullymatchingpointsat theedges
andseams.Returnyourstitchlengthtoits
normallengthforpiecing.Sewthepinned
sectionstogether.Removethepaperfrom
theseam only and press the seam open.10
Repeatstep9 withtheothertwo
completedsections.Thenjointhe
twopairstogethertoformthesun(Fig1).
Note:thereis a gapin thecentreofthe
sunwhichwillbecoveredwithanappliqué
oval.Thisgaphaspurposelybeenleftto
avoidhavinglots of bulky seams joining at
thecentre.11
Removethepapertemplatesfrom
theback,tearing along the seam
lines. Press.
