Top tip
Oil paint can sometimes separate in transit. When you
unscrew the lid of the tube, you may fi nd excess oil. Don’t
worry if this occurs – there’s nothing wrong with the paint!
Simply use a paper towel to soak up the oil or save it and u
it to thin the paints when mixing later. Avoid this happenin
by storing the tubes with the cap facing downwards.

of the same subject. Add blocks
of tone in different places in
each sketch, experimenting with
how they affect the overall
image. Do certain elements

alter the path of one’s eye
around the image?
