Rumors of Apple over-ear headphones have
been circling for a while, with insiders reporting
that the Cupertino company is on the verge of
launching studio-quality cans. A report from
9to5Mac suggests that Apple will launch its
Apple-branded wireless headphones in
Spring, to sit alongside the AirPods and AirPods
Pro. It’s expected that these headphones would
compete with the likes of Bose, Sennheiser, and
Sony, offering superior sound quality with a
premium price tag.
News first came in 2018, when Bloomberg
reported Apple was working on “studio-quality
headphones” that will “use Apple branding
and be a higher-end alternative to Beats.”
The idea was that the company would launch
the headphones in 2018, but “development
challenges” caused a delay. Insiders suggest
they’ll surface this March and be called
StudioPods, to sit alongside the AirPods,
HomePods, and EarPods branding.
