Layer a marked print 2^1 ⁄ 2 " square
on one corner of a cream tone-
on-tone 4^1 ⁄ 2 " square (Diagram 9). Sew
on marked line. Trim excess fabric,
leaving^1 ⁄ 4 " seam allowance. Press open
attached triangle to make a corner
unit. The unit should be 4^1 ⁄ 2 " square
including seam allowances. Repeat to
make four corner units total.

Using marked print 5^1 ⁄ 2 " squares,
second print 5^1 ⁄ 2 " square, and
cream tone-on-tone 5^1 ⁄ 2 " square,
repeat Assemble A Blocks, steps 3–6,
pages 86, make four hourglass units.

Referring to Diagram 10, lay out
corner units, hourglass units,
and cream tone-on-tone 4^1 ⁄ 2 " square
in three rows. Sew together pieces in
rows. Join rows to make Block B. The
block should be 12^1 ⁄ 2 " square including
seam allowances.
