is expected to ship on iOS 13 and macOS 10.15,
and developers will be able to build games
that utilize the power and performance of both
platforms to create cutting-edge games that will
change the way we play. Alongside that, Apple
is reportedly planning to break up iTunes,
shipping separate apps on the Mac for Podcasts,
TV, Audiobooks, and more. What this means for
gaming and iOS app and game management on
the Mac remains to be seen.
UP NEXT: THE GAMING REVOLUTION
What’s most exciting about Apple’s new gaming
service is that the company is not alone. If it
wants Arcade to succeed, it will need to go all-
out, as Google, Steam, and other players are
also fighting to reach the finish line in first place.
Multi-platform is the next big thing in the world
of gaming - imagine exploring a whole galaxy in
Star Wars, or a new continent like Middle-Earth
from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ on your phone, and
turning on your Apple TV to immerse yourself
into the game world on a deeper level? And
with open-world games, like Steven Spielberg’s
‘Ready Player One’, more likely than ever before,
Apple could create powerful gaming titles that
allow us to escape from the pressures of modern
life, and claw market share from some of the
world’s most established gaming firms.
We don’t know how long it will take for these
beautiful virtual worlds to become a reality,
but with so many companies trying to become
‘the’ gaming platform, you can bet your bottom
dollar that Apple and Google will pull out all
of the stops to create all-consuming gaming
adventures unlike anything we’ve seen before.
For consumers, that’s great news. Game on.
