Daniel Sturridge v Everton (H) Premier League (28 January)
An opportunistic strike that was the striker’s second of the night as the Reds beat the Blues 4-0 in a
Tuesday-night fixture at Anfield.
Sturridge had plenty to do when he was picked out by a long ball from Kolo Toure. The centre-
back’s forward pass sailed over Everton defender Phil Jagielka to pick out Sturridge on the edge of
the penalty area prompting goalkeeper Tim Howard to advance in a bid to intercept the danger.
However, Sturridge got there first and showed great awareness of Howard’s position to loft a
glorious left-footed finish over the stranded keeper and into the net at the Anfield Road end.
