‘Acid reflux doesn’t hold me back any more’
‘I used to spend a fortune on indigestion remedies
to try to ease the burning pains caused by
acid reflux. Then, after a curry one night,
I ended up in hospital. I was diagnosed with
a hiatus hernia and the specialist suggested
losing weight might help. Now I’m 6st
lighter, I can enjoy spicy food and I don’t
have to spend anything on pain relief .’

‘My doctor’s warning
spurred me on’
‘When my GP told me I’d need
to take insulin if I didn’t lose
weight, it was a frightening
wake-up call – my dad had died
of complications related to
type 2 diabetes. Losing over
4½st helped balance my blood
sugar levels and
I’ve been free
from diabetes
symptoms for
over a year.’
