Apple has been fined £21 million ( $
million) by a French watchdog for
slowing down
older iPhones and their
batteries to protect their
lifespan. Of course, Apple
has already come clean
about the practice, which
it argues guards against
sudden shutdowns and
prolongs the life of its
lithium-ion batteries.
France’s competition and
fraud watchdog DGCCRF
said that Apple hadn’t
warned users of such
practices as its reason for
the fine. Apple has since
accepted the fine. To avoid
any further controversies
iOS is now much better at
telling users when battery
performance features are
running on our device.
