Split view works with all iPad Pros, iPad 5th generation, iPad Air 2 and iPad
mini 4 or later. It requires power to work properly.
Picture-in-picture
1
Watch and work
While watching a movie or TV episode in
the TV app look for the icon top left that has a
diagonal arrow within it. Tap this to enable the
picture-in-picture feature.
2
Time to watch
A small thumbnail of the video will
display over the app you are now using and
it will stay in place. You can drag it to a new
spot at any time.
4
Active multitasking
When you let go of the icon the app will
display in a column on the left or right-hand
side, dependant upon which you chose. You
can now use it as normal as a second app.
5
The split view
Drag the new app and slide it off the left
or right-hand side of the screen. You will see
the display change at which point you let go
to automatically create the split view.
6
Drag between apps
In the split view you can also drag
content from app to app. For example, you
can pick up an image in Photos and drag it to
a new email in the Mail app.
7
Jump back
If you need to jump back to the app
you were previously using while keeping the
current one full screen, slide left or right off
the screen using four fingers.
8
Limit multitasking
It may be that you want to limit some of the functions to avoid erroneous gestures. Go to
Settings>Home Screen & Dock>Multitasking to select which functions to disable.
3
Make it bigger
Use two fingers to pinch the thumbnail
to make the video display a little larger. This
allows you to customise the display to work
with the main app you are using at the time.
