Line of Duty
Detective Frank Penny (Aaron Eckhart)
accidentally kills a child abductor, losing a
vital lead to the whereabouts of the Chief of
Police (Giancarlo Esposito)’s daughter. A live-
streaming citizen journalist, Ava (Courtney
Eaton), joins Frank on a race against time to
trace the missing girl.
FIVE FACTS:
- Eckhart’s highest-profile role so far is as
District Attorney Harvey Dent, who becomes
the Batman villain Two-Face, in the 2008 film
The Dark Knight. - Coincidentally, two of Eckhart’s Line of
Duty co-stars have been cast in Batman-
themed TV series: Dina Meyer as Batgirl in
Birds of Prey and Ben McKenzie as Detective
James Gordon in Gotham. - Reflecting on his fondness for Line of Duty,
Eckhart told NME that he feels a responsibility
to make movies “that have a moral centre”. - Line of Duty is titled In the Line of Duty in
the UK, presumably to avoid confusion with
the BBC TV series of the same name. - Los Angeles Times critic Noel Murray
describes the film as “generally as fun as
it is dumb.”
