THIS ONE’S PLAIN DESIGN INTO AN ASSET.
THIS PHOTO The sconce next to the
fi replace began as a battery-operated lamp
from Target, until homeowners Cynthia and
Chris Harper got hold of it. “We retrofi tted
it into an electric piece in order to create
this more dramatic wall mount with hanging
cord,” she says. OPPOSITE The coff ee
table is another DIY original. “We topped
a $10 thrift store table with free wood,”
Cynthia says. “It’s gotten better with age.”
