once-in-a-lifetimeopportunityto visittheworld’smost
fa mous urbex site. This unique five-day photo adventure
will see you exploring the areas around Chernobyl’s nuclear
power plant and the ghost town of Pripyat, as well as famous locations
such as the Ferris Wheel and fairground. You’ll be joined on the tour
by award-winning art and nature photographer Mats Andersson, who
will be on hand to offer personal tuition and advice throughout, and
Practical Photography’s very own Kirk Schwarz.
Starting in Kiev, Ukraine’s beautiful capital city, you’ll be greeted
by Mats and Zoom Photo Tours. After a night in Kiev, you’ll be driven
to Chernobyl, where you’ll spend four full days exploring the long-
abandoned surroundings of the exclusion zone, including a number of
less-visited sites such as the Duga radar and bus station. You’ll have
the opportunity to meet former residents who’ve returned to their
houses and farms, and – for a surcharge – even visit parts of the power
plant that are still in operation today, such as the underground control
ce ntre and the new protective housing around the No.4 nuclear reactor.
Whether you’re a serious enthusiast or absolute beginner, this tour
has been designed to help you develop your skills and create a unique
portfolio of images in this truly unforgettable location. With numerous
awards to his name, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year and
Nordic Nature Photographer of the Year, Mats Andersson will provide
one-to-one tuition and photo challenges, as well as give inspiring
lectures and present editing workshops. There will also be a ‘Best
photo of the tour’ competition, which Mats will adjudicate.
