TREES
This lets you create 34
types of tree from scratch, and
also lets you change things
like the number of branches
and coverage of leaves. It’s a
useful feature for architects
and designers who want to
mock-up an exterior scene, or
even for creating a forest from
scratch like this, which was
made by combining rendered
trees and a cloud brush.

FIBERS
To give an image a
distressed look. Make a new
layer and press D to reset
the colors, then apply Filter

Render > Fibers with low
Variance. Click Randomize
until you get a good result.
Make another layer, go to
Edit > Transform > Rotate 90
Clockwise and apply Fibers
again. Set the Blending Mode
of both layers to Multiply.

CLOUDS
Although at first glance
it might not seem like it, Clouds
is the most useful of the
Render Filters. It comes into its
own in two ways. Use it on a
Layer Mask to make an effect
look random, especially if you
blur the clouds with Filter >
Gaussian Blur. It also comes in
handy for making a mottled
backdrop, created by blurring a
clouds layer then applying the
Multiply Blending Mode.
