Mymother’saunttaughtmetoknit

whenI waseight(57yearsago)andI

havemadecountlessitemsoverthe

years.Recently,mynieceaskedfora

blanket.I showedherlotsofpatterns

butshechosea cushionpatternI found

inSimplyKnittingthatI couldadapt.

I experimentedwitha greyKingCole

yarnandneedlesandsettledona DK

yarnon5mmneedleswhichgavea fairly

relaxedfabric.I castonover 300 stitches

onlongmetalneedlesandit workedreally

well.Sheaskedforthepom-pomsonthe

blanketandI madea coupleofcushions

togowiththeblanketusingthepom-pom

colourontheslippedstitches.Altogether,

I thinkthatit wasa successandI’vebeen

toldthattheblanketiswarmandcosy!
