“For this challenge the idea
for a snuggly Fair Isle hat
made with the waistcoat
stitch popped into my mind
straight away. I wanted
to try a modern take on traditional patterns by
turning sweet childhood memories of waiting
for Santa Claus and his reindeer into a warm and
wearable hat combining a cute reindeer motif
and a big, u y, snowball-like pompom.”

to create a hat that’s less
Christmas and more winter
so I can still feel happy
wearing it on a chilly February day. The simple
design of this hat takes advantage of the natural
slope created by working htr in the round. All
the detail is in the colourwork – and who doesn’t
love an oversized bobble?”
