Tostarta scalerow,turnthefoundation
rowyou’vejustworked and skip the first
pairoftrebles.
Step 1 Worka treblearoundthe post of the
nexttreble.Todothis,yrh...
Step 2 ...andinsert the hook under the next
treblestitch.
Step 3 Yrhandpullupa loop.
Step 4 Finishthetrebleasusual(yrhandpull
through2 loopstwice).This stitch counts as a
frontposttreble(FPtr).
Step 5 Work4 moreFPtraroundthesame
trebleinthesameway,movingdownwards
as you go. You can move the fabric around to

findthemostcomfortableangleforyou.

Thiscompletesonehalfofthescale.Work

onechaintoseparatethetwohalves.

Step 6 Toworkthesecondhalfofthescale,

youneedtoworka treblearoundthenext

treble.Thiscanbea bitawkward,sowe’ve

rotatedthefabric 90 degreesanticlockwise

tomakeit a biteasier.Sostartwithyrh...

Step 7 ...andinsert hook under the next

treblelikethis.

Step 8 Yrhandpullupa loop.

Step 9 Finish the treble as usual – this is also

a FPtr.

Step 10 Work 4 more FPtr around the same

trebleinthesameway,movingupwardsas

yougo.We’verotatedthefabricbackto

normaltoshowyouthefinishedhalf.

Step 11 Tosecurethescale,inserthookin

betweenthenext pair of trebles and work a

slipstitch.

Step 12 RepeattheprocessfromStep1 with

thenextpairoftrebles,working5FPtr

aroundthepostofthenexttreble,moving

downwards,ch1,thenwork5FPtraroundthe

nexttreble,movingupwards.Slipstitchto

thespacebetweenthenext2 trebles.This

completesyourfirstscalerow– here you can

see that you’ve made two scales.
