THAT’S A LONG SHOT
Marcus Rashford is aiming for that
killer touch in front of goal - and
has found inspiration by reading
a book by an Army sniper famous
for taking out an enemy soldier
with the longest shot ever. The
Manchester United striker says the
read has been a hit with him and
helped the 22-year-old to learn
how to deal with pressure. The
book is named ‘’The Longest Kill’’
and it is written by Sergeant Craig
Harrison. The autobiography details
Harrison's spell in Afghanistan in
November 2009 when he saved
the lives of his comrades with the
longest ever confirmed sniper kill -
2475 metres which is the length of
25 soccer pitches.
IT’S BONG A
LONG TIME
Parasite director Bong
Joon-Ho has named
Manchester City Kevin De
Bruyne among the five
personalities he wants to
have dinner with. Parasite
outshined every other
nominated movie at the
Oscars by bagging four
awards on a glorious
night. It became the first
non-English movie to win
the ‘Best Movie’ award.
The other four of the
dream guests Joon-ho
cites probably aren’t that
surprising – legendary film
directors Alfred Hitchcock
and Martin Scorsese, South
Korean former Olympic
figure skater Yuna Kim,
and Jimmy Page from
Led Zepellin (his hero
growing up). Perhaps
less intuitively, Kevin de
Bruyne also makes the cut.
Which sparked headlines
on several web portals
as it gives a scope of an
assumption that Bong Joo
is a Manchester City fan.
ERIC WHO?
Former Manchester United star Eric Cantona has admitted he's
"afraid" of the day the club's faithful inevitably stop singing about
him. The Frenchman won four Premier League titles with the Red
Devils during a golden era for the club that saw Cantona turn heads
on and off the pitch. A particularly philosophical person, Cantona is
all too aware of his own longevity in the minds of football fans and
conceded he is trying to brace himself for the day he's forgotten at
Old Trafford.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS
Carlo Ancelotti admitted it was a “new experience” to see Djibril
Sidibe nearly come on as a substitute while missing a sock after
the Italian watched his team beat Crystal Palace 3-1 to move up
to seventh in the Premier League. Goals from Bernard, Richarlison
and Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park helped the Toffees secure all the points. The
afternoon was marred by an injury to Theo Walcott, replaced by Sidibe, who caused much
amusement around Goodison Park when he had to return to the dressing room to collect a
second sock before the substitution could take place.
