DEMOLITION

MAN
Barcelona defender
Samuel Umtiti has
had to attend a
court hearing as he
stands accused of
causing €183k worth
of damage to a
property. As outlined
by Diario Sport, the
Frenchman appeared
at the Esplugues de
Llobregat court for
one hour and testified
that he was not aware
of any damage being
caused. Umtiti is
alleged to have caused
damage to the villa of
which he once resided
in the town of Baix
Llobregat.

ZIP IT VICTOR
Six people have been
arrested after a video
was leaked showing
sexually explicit content
of Malaga boss Victor
Sanchez del Amo. The
former Real Madrid
midfielder and Spain
international, was
shown indecently
exposing himself on
camera whilst wearing
a Malaga training top,
with the video widely
circulated on Twitter
and WhatsApp. That
led to Victor being
suspended from his post
as Malaga Coach, with
Sergio Pellicer acting as
caretaker in the position.

A WANTED MAN
Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has revealed he thought it
was a joke when the club tried to sign him this summer.
The Serbian striker joined Los Blancos in a €60m move
from Eintracht Frankfurt, for whom he netted 27 times
last season. However, Jovic’s playing time for the record
time Champions League winners have been few and far
between because of their rich stock of attacking options.

LEO GROWLS
Barcelona star Lionel Messi
has hit out at the club’s
sporting director Eric
Abidal following claims the
players were not working
hard and were responsible
for previous manager
Ernesto Valverde losing
his job. Under Valverde,
the Catalan giants had
won each of the previous
two La Liga titles but had
suffered two traumatic
exits from Europe’s premier
club competition. Quique
Setien subsequently
replaced Valverde in the
Camp Nou hotseat.

MISTAKES ????
Former Villarreal defender Ruben
Semedo has admitted he has
made ‘many mistakes’ but now
wants to ‘forget about the past’.
The controversial defender spent
last season away from the Yellow
Submarine on loan deals at
Huesca and Rio Ave in Portugal
respectively, before joining
Olympiakos in a permanent €4.5m
deal last summer. The 25-year-
old previously spent five months
in prison in Spain after he was
charged with a number of offences
including robbery, assault, kidnapping and attempted
murder.

HEADING SKILLS
A special moment took place at Real Madrid's training
ground in Valdebedas when Karim Benzema exchanged a
few passes with a young Los Blancos fan who has no legs,
he impressed the 32-year-old striker with his heading skills.
The Frenchman took to social media to share the video
showing the two of them trying to keep the ball in the air.

A HEALTHY DIET
Ousmane Dembele’s Barcelona career has been plagued
with repeated injuries and there doesn't seem to be a
solution to his issues with his hamstrings. Yet a Spanish TV
show has come up with some options. Miquel Montoro,
a YouTuber from Mallorca who has become famous for
his videos describing local delicacies, was recently on 'La
Resistencia', a late-night show in Spain. He spoke about
some of the health benefits of various foods from the
island and the show's Twitter account jokingly suggested a
couple of these to Dembele.

WHERE WAS VAR?
Ex-Atletico Madrid star Donato is of the belief that
Barcelona and Real Madrid tend to get the rub of the
green from referees following recent debatable incidents
in the meeting between Los Blancos and Atletico. Diego
Simeone's side were seemingly denied a clear penalty in
the Madrid derby when Casemiro brought down Alvaro
Morata in the box.

AROUND SPAIN

“I'm 30 years old and it's a good age to
think - what more do I want? [My career]
won't last much longer. I'm sure that I
won't play until I'm 38.” - Real Madrid
star Toni Kroos admits that he doesn't
see himself playing football for years and
years to come.

“I was not disappointed with the news,
in fact quite the opposite. I wish all
players were that clear and direct and I
am convinced he will be involved right
until the end with full commitment.
We handled all details of the exit and
everyone is satisfied with how it has
been conducted.” - Sevilla sporting
director Monchi praises midfielder Ever
Banega for his ‘clarity’ on his upcoming
transfer to Al-Shabab this summer.

“We are competing at a good level.
There are people who insist on taking
merit away from a modest team because
we are there with one of the lowest
budgets” – Getafe boss Jose Bordalas
says that many people insist on ‘taking
merit away’ from his side because of their
modest budget.
