I'D RATHER BE DANCING
Legendary Brazilian striker Romario showed he can still
move well long after his playing days. The 54-year-old was
filmed dancing in his homeland with plenty of rhythm.
He was known to be somewhat of a party animal in his
playing days, famously leaving at half-time of a Barcelona
match after having scored twice to catch a flight to the Rio
de Janeiro carnival.

IF’S AND BUT’S
Unai Emery believes Paris Saint-Germain would not have
lost to Barcelona in the 2016-17 Champions League if VAR
had existed then. The video technology system was only
introduced to Europe’s premier club competition last
season - two campaigns after PSG’s traumatic exit at the
Camp Nou. The Parisians won the home leg in the France
capital 4-0 to put them in a commanding position in the
Round of 16 tie, before a collapse in Catalonia.

A GOOD FIT
On the occasion of International Epilepsy Day, Feb.
10, Atletico Madrid star Mario Hermoso, starred in an
awareness campaign promoted by Spanish Federation of
Epilepsy (FEDE). The initiative was also collaborated by
the Atletico Madrid foundation. Each year 20,000 new
cases of epilepsy are diagnosed in Spain, of which about
half (40%) occur in children and adolescents.

OLD IS NEW
Atletico Madrid have started the work of the new Atletico
museum, which is expected to open its doors to the public
at the start of 2020-21 season. The museum will occupy
an area of 1,400 square meters, which is three times larger
than the museum that was located inside the Vicente
Calderon. The club currently welcomes 300,000 visitors
per year and they hope to double it by next season once
the museum opens.

KAKA SHOWN UP
Former AC Milan and Real Madrid
legend Kaka won the Champions
League, World Cup and Ballon
d’Or during a glittering 13-year
professional career. But those
plaudits counted for nothing
when the man once considered
the best player on the planet
attempted to tackle bleary-eyed
warehouse worker Jamil Farid in a
six-a-side match in Hackney, east
London. 24-year-old Farid, who
arrived at the match direct from
a night shift, achieved something
that eluded most of the elite
professional footballers Kaka faced
when he nudged the ball through
the Brazilian's legs - in a move
commonly known as a nutmeg -
before racing clear.

GOT BEER?
The boulevard of stalls at Camp Nou’s gate nine will
become, in the coming months, Barcelona's own Rambla.
A space for entertainment and restaurants, welcoming
fans at the stadium. The new project has started this week
and will be open to everyone throughout. It's expected
to be finished next spring. It will offer a lot of different
types of food options which will be open through the
day. The space will 'breathe Barca'. The most emblematic
establishment will be the new 'Barca cafe', which will serve
Catalan food. The idea is that it will become a meeting
point for fans on game days. The Barca store will remain,
along with the robo-keeper - an attraction that boasts a
nearly unbeatable goalkeeper.

SURPRISE

GUEST
Barcelona boss Quique
Setien has not forgotten
his roots. An idol in
Santander following
his years there as a
coach and a player, he
attended the game
between Barça's
women's B team and
Racing Santander at the
Ciutat Esportiva. Barça
lost the game 2-4, a
result which saw them
give up top spot. Setien
enjoyed the fixture live,
much to the surprise of
the other fans attending
the match.

AROUND SPAIN

“I knew I was leaving, but my
commitment to Getafe was
uncompromised till the last day.” -
Leandro Cabrera acknowledges that he
knew he was leaving Getafe when he was
named on the starting 11 against Leganes,
but stresses his commitment to the club
remained the same from day one to last.

“It's not normal that, for example, Luka
[Modric] has only won one league [title]
here.” - Real Madrid coach Zinedine
Zidane highlights the importance of
winning the league for Real Madrid
saying there are players in the team who
deserves to win it more times than they
actually did.

“The problem is that they want us to
have a problem with Gareth, but we
don't have one. There are lots of players,
it's not easy to manage everyone
like this, but in the end he's a really
important player and bit by bit he's
going to keep playing like the others.” -
Zinedine Zidane has insisted that he has
no problem with Gareth Bale after the
Welshman was substituted first in the 4-1
win away at Osasuna.
