We had an impressive 45 photographers attending the latest walk, enjoying the remarkable
route that Mark managed to find for us. Right at the western end of Bangkok’s public transport
infrastructure, Bang Khae is certainly well off the beaten track, though its canalside walkways make
it feel like an eastern Venice. Impressively, we got very few groups of similar pictures, making our
usual interludes fewer and further between. And there isn’t even a spread of cat photos!
From these 45 photographers, 34 submitted photos to Bangkok Photo Walks. We are certainly
happy with that ratio, but we’re still chasing the perfect 100 per cent, with every photographer
who attends the walk going on to submit their best images for the magazine. On that note, it’s
worth mentioning that we have updated the submission guidelines, which you can read in full
on page 146. We are now asking for at least eight photos from each photographer to give Greg
more options to work with and help to ensure that we can showcase the best that each of you has
to offer.
Talking of the best you’ve got, please don’t forget to prepare your submissions for Vision 2022.
Chiefly organised by Dennie and DK, this is your opportunity to showcase the finest photos you’ve
taken this year, not necessarily from Bangkok or one of the walks. The only entry criterion is that
you must be a member of the Bangkok Photographers Group. This year’s edition features both
the hardcopy photobook of previous years, but also a spot in two gallery exhibitions in Bangkok.
Everyone who submits photos will get at least one included in the photobook, but only the
top 25-30 will be invited to feature their work in the exhibitions. You’ll find more information on
the Facebook event (click here to be taken right there), probably including corrections to some
essential detail that I’ve either missed or misunderstood and erroneously advertised here.
To help you pick out your best of 2022, Dennie and DK are running a special workshop on
Saturday 12th November. You can find more information about that event by clicking here. Given
that they’re the ones picking the top shots for the exhibitions, attending an event at which they will
be explaining their personal criteria for picking their favourite shots might be a smart move!
Have fun,
Greg, Ben and Mark.
