obots are coming forour jobs, automating
us out of employment. They’re killers,
sinister beasts created forwarfare.They’re
unfeeling and uncaring machines, ready to
push humanity out of the waywhen the
singularity arrives. Or they’re foolish,
hilarious failures, comically tripping over their own
limbs, struggling to grasp everydayobjects, and
falling intofountains.
Both extremes are true –but there’s so much
more that robots can do forus, and to us. While
office workers bemoan looming automation,
factory staff already toil alongside robots that
have displaced their formerly human colleagues.
While the beasts that Boston Dynamics builds for
battle seem straight out of asci-fi nightmare,
