AMD’s second generation

of Ryzen processors gets

off to an auspicious start

with the mighty Ryzen 72700X. It’s faster

than Intel’s equivalent Core i7-8700K at stock

speeds, despitebeing cheaper,and temperatures staynice and

low even when overclocking.

Buying an affordable

motherboard doesn’t mean

having to settle forbasic features, or

even asmaller form factor.The B450 Pro4 is an ATXboard with dual

M.2 slots, USB Type-C connectivity and overclocking compatibility,so

it’s agood match forall-rounder,AMD-based desktops.

Forget the Intel Core

i9-9900K –this 12-core

monster of aCPU performs far

better forsimilar money. There is adrawback, in that it’s

not very overclocking-friendly,but that’s partly because it’s so fast to

begin with. Pair it with some good RAM, and you’re already most of

the waytoacapable home workstation.
