Gorgeous in green
Q
I’m looking for a Green Man pattern small enough for cards.
It’s a strange theme, but I thought it would be a fun idea!
I’ve found a pattern by Durene Jones in Cross Stitch Crazy, but it’s
too big. Can you advise where I could find one please?

Hannah E: What a fun idea, Ruth! It’s certainly something
different, and I’ve actually managed to track down a design
that may be perfect for what you’re looking for – this ‘Green
Man’ (MGRM16) by Lucie Heaton* is available in her Motif Library
for just £1.50 as an instant downloadable pattern. Measuring
approx. 7x7cm (3x3in) when stitched on 14-count fabric,
it’s a good size for a card too, and Lucie also has a
‘Green Woman’ (MGRL16) pattern available as well, if
you fancy stitching the pair.

I was wondering if you
could tell me where I
could get a plain afghan
blanket from. I get your
magazine regularly and love it.
My sister has been making
cross stitch squares for her
grandchild, but can’t find
where to get the afghan
blanket to put them on. I
know you are great at finding
things for us cross stitchers.

idea for your sister’s
grandchild, Tina! You would
usually stitch directly onto
afghan fabric, which has a
weave similar to that of
evenweave, in order for it to
be more resistant and to
create a better finish for
regular use as a blanket.

14-count palisade afghan
fabric, which would be
perfect for this. An 84x102cm
(33x44in) piece costs £20.13,
which has 3x4 squares of
woven pattern for stitching
your motifs on. Alternatively,
your sister could simply patch
the designs she has already
stitched onto this instead.
