Project VE Day

DESIGNED BY LESLEY TEARE
Commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day with this
glorious celebration of the end of World War II
victory
M
illions took to the streets to
celebrate the end of World
War II, singing and dancing
the night away. Here we see that
the whole neighbourhood has come
out to party for VE Day. The scene is
made complete with red, white and
blue bunting, flags waving about and,
of course, a cup of tea – even the pets
have joined in with the festivities!
Commemorate this historic day
with Lesley’s jolly street scene. It’s a
sizable project that’ll be satisfying to
stitch, right down to the French knot
button details and subtle backstitch
in one strand. Fabric Flair’s Cloud
Summer Sky evenweave is the perfect
fabric choice, as the happy blue sky is
just as uplifting as this cheery lot!
Such a monumental stitch
deserves to be displayed where
everyone can see it. We recommend
hanging this happy bunch in your
living room, so that when you’re
entertaining, it can be admired over
some traditional tea and scones.
V for
I was delighted to be asked to create a
design to honour VE Day. I really wanted
to capture the jovial spirit and charged
atmosphere that the people must have
been experiencing at the time.
