How to...
1 Select your skin and hair thread colours and stitch
your chosen head and outfit together on one piece of
aida to create a complete stitched bride or groom figure.
3 Hand or machine sew all the way around,
following the pencil line, leaving a small gap along
the bottom edge of the design for turning through.
4 Cut away excess fabric from the seams, and turn
through to the right side. Carefully fill the figure with
small pieces of stuffing to pad out the shape.
2 In pencil, mark a border of approximately 0.5cm
(¼in) around the edge of your design, and then pin the
stitching to a piece of white felt, with right sides facing.
5 Cut your skewer to the desired length – it should
extend out of the bottom of the figure by about 4cm
(1½in). Carefully insert the cut edge into the figure.
6 Making sure the skewer is positioned centrally,
sew up the gap evenly on either side using strong
sewing thread, to secure it in place.
