back to the manufacturer. In addition, the nozzle head – and
thus, the base and intake of the nozzle – is now directly
welted with the body of the device to allow a 100% air flow
and ensure that the air flow can be established through the
nozzle base directly to the vacuum chamber of the nozzle.
This means that there will be fewer sealing problems and
that a Teflon sealing ring is no longer necessary.

The Sotar 20/20 Slim features a plug-in nozzle system. The
device comes with a fine nozzle size corresponding to rough-
ly 0.2 mm. There are conversion sets for a midrange (0.3 mm)
and a large (0.5 mm) nozzle size. A nozzle set always consists
of a nozzle, needle, and spray cap. It costs 57,90 $ (RRP). A
replacement nozzle costs 9.10 $ (RRP) while a replacement
needle is roughly 14,50 $ (RRP). The device is connected via
a typical Badger connector. Separate plug-in nipples can be
purchased in specialty shops so as to i.e. enable a quick cou-
pling. Nonetheless, and as already mentioned, the device
comes with an adapter from Badger (screw heads) on a 1/8“
thread.

In comparison to the first ever Sotar 20/20 generation, the
control lever is a bit longer and the button has clearly be-
come larger. This makes an even softer and more exact de-
termination of the paint amount possible. The double action
airbrush disposes of an adjustable paint control unit with an
engraved scale. With all this in mind, this device provides
especially beginners with the wonderful opportunity to
spray delicate lines. A plastic grip is part of the end of the

needle, which makes it easy to remove or loosen the needle,
also giving the Sotar its unmistakable look. A finger sup-
port made of plastic is mounted between the valve and the
encasement. This ensures that the Sotar 20/20 Slim sits com-
fortably in your hand. If paint remains should collect under
it or if you just don’t want the finger support to be on the
device, you can use the tool that comes with the airbrush to
disassemble the finger support.

The paint cup can be filled with up to 12 drops, thus 0.6 ml
of paint. The manufacturers recommend using inks, water-
colors, dia dyes, and strongly diluted airbrush acrylic paints.
You can fill up the paint cup right out of the paint bottle or
with the accompanying paint intake pipette.

The Sotar 20/20 Slim has left us with a positive impression,
especially with respect to its very precise operation and the
spray pattern it creates. It is easily held and it’s a lot of fun
working with the device. The airbrush is available in spe-
cialty shops for 190 $ (RRP) and is just perfect for all airbrush
artists who want to spray very fine and detailed pieces of
work.
