1. “HITIATA” BY
NAMSA LEUBA
This work
represents the
present moment.
Time stands still as
the viewer is
confronted with the
direct gaze of the
woman.
- “EMMA” BY
SENTA SIMOND
Emma looks past
the camera to the
left edge of the
frame. As in the
other images in this
series, her face
occupies most of
the frame. Her gaze
eludes the viewer in
an act of deception. - “RESONANCES
II” BY DANIELA
DROZ
“Résonances II”
shines in bright blue
and—just as the
other works of this
series—addresses
the relationship
between the private
space of the viewer
looking at the work
and the outside
space, shared with
other people.

La Prairie excels in the art of collaboration once again
CEO of La Prairie. “The founder (Dr Paul Niehans)
was inspired by Bauhaus, so we have always had a
connection with this art-driven, pure, sleek style.
Everything we do is connected to art.” Including
packaging: La Prairie’s deep, rich, jewel-like cobalt
blue glass jars and bottles were all inspired and
designed by the French American sculptor Niki de
Saint Phalle (famed for her experimental, large-
scale sculptures—particularly “Tarot Garden”—
which all feature that very particular gemstone
blue). The exacting attention to detail, explains
Rasquinet, is deliberate. “We spend so much time
creating our packaging to ensure that it is a piece
of art. There is an intrinsic link between La Prairie
and the art world, so we’ve decided to express it even
louder by allowing artists to be our storytellers.”
R
ecently, there has been an enthusiasm
for creative collaborations in the
beauty industry. The caveat? They
must be steeped in authenticity. This is
where Swiss luxury skincare brand La Prairie excels.
Their latest artist collaboration, revealed at the 2019
Art Basel—the world-renowned, highly influential
contemporary art fair—endorsed three Swiss female
photographers. In their individual styles, they have
explored beauty and the timelessness of “the gaze”
to celebrate the innovative Skin Caviar Eye Lift, the
first eye-opening serum for the entire eye area. While
this is the third year that La Prairie have shown at
Art Basel to extol the art of their formulations,
their deep relationship with art, “goes back to the
inception of the brand,” says Patrick Rasquinet,
