Pacific Golden Plover
Binomial Name: Pluvialis fulva
The Pacific Golden Plover was originally a bird of the Sumerian tundra region. Amazingly, they migrate almost halfway around the world in winter. This common migratory bird of
Bangladesh comes in winter for food and warmth. At this time, small and large flocks roamalmost all the river banks, coastal mudflats, lakes, swamps, and paddies of the country.
They collect food by walking or running in the damp wetlands. Their favourite foods includetiny snails, shrimps, earthworms, insects, seeds, and small plants. During the June-july
breeding season, they lay their eggs in lichen-covered soil in the Sumerian tundra region.
