is ‘Sundarban.’ This name is not very ancient, but not modern.
The forest is home to at least 517 species of wildlife, including more than 300 species ofbirds, more than 100 species of fish, 42 species of mammals, 35 species of reptiles, and
eight species of amphibians. The Sundarban is the only mangrove forest in the world thatis an essential habitat for the Bengal Tiger, a formidable predator of the Asian continent.
There is more wildlife here, including Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, RhesusMacaque, Jungle Cat, Fishing Cat, Leopard Cats etc.
