Ruby-cheeked Sunbird
Binomial Name: Anthreptes singalensis
The Ruby-cheeked Sunbird is a common resident insectivorous bird of Bangladesh.Although called common, this songbird is not seen everywhere in the country. It usually
roams singly or in pairs in open forests, evergreen forests, mangrove forests, small bushesor forest wilderness of Chittagong, Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions. Sometimes other
small insectivorous birds also join the mixed flock. They move around the leaves, flowersand buds of trees or shrubs and eat insects and flower honey. The breeding season of the
bird is from March to June. At this time, they build bag-shaped nests on tree branches.
