Blue-throated Barbet
Binomial Name: Megalaima asiatica
Before the end of spring in Bangladesh, thecall of Blue-throated Barbet started. This
green arborist is a common sighting inBangladesh. In all the forests and groves of
all the divisions, alone or pairs, theysometimes roam in groups of fruit birds. They
sing loudly for a long time. It sings almost allday during the breeding season. When one
side starts singing, the other side responds.
During the breeding season from March toJuly, they make nests in tree trunks 2-8 m
above the ground and make a nest.
