Scenic Shorelines
Create a tranquil scene with stamping inspired by the countryside!
By Michelle Marshall
I
’d love to be able to create a great
masterpiece, a work of art worthy
of hanging on a wall in some grand
house, but unfortunately I don’t have
the skill to do so. Stamping, however,
gives me the thrill of creating something
artistically pleasing, especially when I
can create a little scene. When I saw
these wonderful stamps from Hobby Art,
I knew they were just the stamps for me,
a chance to create a little scene using
images of the birds I see every day in the
Yorkshire Dales where I am fortunate
enough to live. Being a keen “birder” I
have enjoyed many peaceful moments
watching all the birds featured in this
stamp set and it has been a joy to extend
that pleasure whilst stamping and water
colouring these great images. Why not try submitting a piece of artwork for our magazine? Send a picture of your stamped, mixed media style project to:

PICSA6104 Double Sayings1 Adhere the blue card to the front of the
card blank. Cut the aperture using the
circular die, cutting through both layers.
2 Emboss the aperture edge by replacing
the die and running the ball tool around
the edge of the die.3 Stamp the images with Ranger Archival
ink. Add watercolour by using Distress
ink and a water brush.4 Stamp the curlew onto watercolour
card and colour using Antique Linen
and Brushed Corduroy.
5 Place the watercolour circle in the
aperture. Lightly pencil to mark the
placement for the pebble and rock.6 Stamp pebbles at the bottom of the
circle. At the same time create a mask
using a post-it-note cutting out as
accurately as possible.Step-by-step... Aperture Card
7 With the mask placed over the pebbles,
stamp the grass, stamp the bigger rock
group and colour.
8 To create the light sand and sky, first
brush clean water over the whole area,
avoiding the stamped images.9 Paint using Tea Dye or Stormy Sky
ink. When dry, glue to the inside of the
card positioning it behind the aperture.
Finish by stamping the sentiment.Project: Reader Submission
