SEAT has kept theLeon competitiveint he compacthatc hclass with

afaceliftin2017 and another updatein2018. Thislastchange

sawequipmentlevelsimproved, so everyLeon nowgets an

eight-inchinfotainmentscreen as standard.

The interiorhas an upmarketfeel, even if itcan’t quitematch its

sistercar,the Volkswagen Golf,for overal lquality.Space is decent

too, with enoughroom formost passengers in the front andback

seats. There’sa380-litreboot, whichisreasonab le,but theLeon has a

high boot lip,whichmakes loadingdifficult. The rear seatssplit 60:40

to enhanceusability,but they don’tfold downfully flat.Instead ,they

leaveanawkward stepint he boot floor,whichcan compromise

practicality.Anadjustable boot floorisn’t availabl etor ectifythis,

either.Total bootspace with therear seatsfolded is 1,210 litres.

Customersshould find an engineto su it their needs,with po wer

rangingfrom108 to 296bhp.Ifyou tend to do longtrips, the 113bhp

1.6 TDIdiesel canwork out thecheapest to run, with upto 58mpg.

In terms of drivingpleasure, allenginesoffer morethansufficient

performance, while SEAT’s six-speed manual and seven-speed auto

gearboxesare smooth. It’safun cartod riveonatwisty road,too.
